Ambitious LIineup of Art, Music, Panels, and Parties Set for Internet Week new York's New Two-Story Headquarters at Soho's 82 Mercer
New York, NY (April 4, 2012)– Giving festival-goers an opportunity to experience the very best of digital culture and New York City’s thriving tech scene, Internet Week New York’s new Soho headquarters will showcase an ambitious line up of interactive art installations, classes conducted by top technologists and artists, nightly parties and concerts, and hundreds of panels and keynotes featuring the industry’s leading thinkers.
Taking place from May 14th – 21th, 2012, Internet Week New York 2012 is expected to bring more than 45,000 people from around the world to nearly 250 events at the festival’s new 50,000 square foot, two-story Soho headquarters at 82 Mercer and dozens of locations throughout the city, including such hot-ticket favorites as The Webby Awards hosted by Patton Oswalt, The Webutante Ball, Girls Who Rock, and Time Inc.'s "10 NYC Startups To Watch".
“Internet Week New York has become a must-attend event for anyone interested in experiencing digital culture at its best,” said David-Michel Davies, Chairman of Internet Week New York. The final schedule of events at Internet Week New York Headquarters will be announced in late April. Initial schedule highlights unveiled today include:
- Keynotes by David Carr and Brian Stelter of The New York Times, VICE Founder Shane Smith, and legendary music industry journalist and blogger Bob Lefsetz on Music:Tech Day in partnership with SoundCtrl.
- Daily classes presented by General Assembly showcasing the best of New York tech.
- Daily sessions onstage from VICE and The Creators Project, a collaboration between VICE and Intel, which recently produced Björk’s acclaimed “Biophilia” residency at the New York Hall of Science.
- Interactive art and technology installations, including a collaboration between acclaimed multimedia artist Ivan Depeña and ITP/NYU artists, Jack Kalish Jack Kalish, Gabriella Levine Gabriella Levine and Catherine McCurry Catherine McCurry.
- Buzzfeed's Jonah Peretti and Jon Steinberg and Federated Media’s John Battelle, will be among the innovators interviewed in The Webby Sessions, a series of interviews taking place each day at HQ.
- Panels exploring a wide range of trending topics including: the evolution of the Internet artist with Paola Antonelli of the Museum of Modern Art, Ivan Toth Depeña, and Welcome to Company CEO CJ Follini; The Science of Spread with The Next Web’s Courtney Boyd Myers and Know Your Meme co-creator Kenyatta Cheese; the rise of the “anti-lady mag” with Jezebel’s Jessica Coen; the intersection of branding and gaming with Gold Run’s Vivian Rosenthal;.and Why Being a CEO has Nothing to do with Being a Woman with Artspace’s Catherine Levine, Nestio’s Caren Maio, and CNNMoney’s Laurie Segall.
- Nightly parties and special events, including the festival’s Opening Night Party with music artists to be announced.

The Internet Week New York Headquarters Theater will also host major all-day conferences, including OMMA Mobile, OMMA Social and APPNATION NYC. Tickets to these conferences are sold separately through the conference organizer’s websites.
The festival is organized by the International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences (IADAS), in cooperation with the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment.
